Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment
Growth Building Solutions LLC, doing business as The Oru Group, is committed to making www.theorugroup.com accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We believe that everyone should be able to view our work, understand what we do, and reach our team, regardless of ability or the technology they use.
We treat accessibility as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time project, and we work to improve the usability and accessibility of our website on a continuing basis.
Conformance Status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG defines requirements for making web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Our current conformance status is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content may not yet fully meet the standard. We are actively working toward full conformance and address issues as we identify them.
We also strive to meet the accessibility expectations set out in Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as applied to online services.
Measures We Take
To support accessibility, we:
- Design and build with accessibility considerations as part of our standard development process
- Use semantic HTML structure with a logical heading hierarchy so content can be navigated efficiently with assistive technology
- Provide meaningful alternative text for informative images and mark decorative images so screen readers can skip them
- Aim for color contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 Level AA minimums for text and interactive elements
- Avoid conveying information through color alone
- Support keyboard-only navigation, including visible focus indicators and the ability to reach and operate all interactive elements without a mouse
- Label our contact form clearly, associate labels with their inputs, and present error messages in text that describes how to correct the problem
- Provide descriptive link text rather than generic phrases such as "click here"
- Build responsive layouts that remain usable when text is enlarged or the browser is zoomed
- Provide controls for video content and avoid audio or video that plays automatically in a way that cannot be stopped
- Avoid content that flashes in ways known to trigger seizures
- Review accessibility when we add new pages, projects, features, or third-party tools
Our Project Portfolio
Our website is intentionally visual. Photography, video, and renderings of our projects are central to how we communicate our work, and we recognize that image-heavy design can create barriers.
To address this, we write alternative text for project images that conveys what matters about the space — the type of project, the room or elevation shown, and its notable materials and features — rather than a generic label. Where a project is presented as a gallery, we aim to provide a text description of the project alongside the images so that the substance of the work is available to anyone who cannot see them. If you encounter a project image or video whose description is missing or unhelpful, please tell us and we will fix it.
Accessibility Tool
Our website includes an accessibility tool that lets visitors adjust the presentation of the site to suit their needs. Depending on the options available, this may include adjustments such as text size and spacing, contrast and color modes, link highlighting, reduced motion, a reading guide or reading mask, and keyboard navigation aids.
The tool can be opened using the accessibility icon on the page. Your selections may be stored in a cookie or in your browser's local storage so that they persist as you move between pages. Our Privacy Policy explains how that information is handled.
We want to be transparent about the role of this tool: it is an aid that supplements our accessibility work, not a substitute for it. Automated and overlay-based tools cannot resolve every accessibility barrier, and we do not rely on it alone to meet our commitments. We continue to make accessibility improvements directly in the underlying design and code of the website. If the tool does not meet your needs, or if you prefer to use it alongside or instead of your own assistive technology, both approaches are supported, and we welcome your feedback either way.
Compatibility with Assistive Technology
The website is designed to be compatible with current versions of widely used assistive technologies and browsers, including:
- Screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition and voice control software
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Operating system accessibility settings, including high contrast modes, reduced motion preferences, and text scaling
We recommend using the most recent version of your browser and assistive technology for the best experience. Some older browsers or software versions may not support all accessibility features.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations may remain. We are aware that the following areas can present challenges and are working to address them:
- Third-party content. Our site embeds content and tools from third parties, including video players, social media feeds, and form and marketing platforms. We do not control the accessibility of these services. Where a third-party element creates a barrier, we work with the provider or seek an accessible alternative.
- Video content. Some video content may lack complete captions, transcripts, or audio descriptions. We are working through our library and captioning new content.
- Project imagery. Some older project photographs may have alternative text that is less descriptive than our current standard. We are reviewing and improving these.
- Downloadable documents. Any PDFs, plans, or brochures we make available may not be fully tagged for screen reader use. We can provide an accessible alternative format on request.
If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, we want to know about it.
